Jim Spillane is once again pleased to be serving as your New Hampshire State Representative from Deerfield, Candia, and Nottingham. (Rockingham District 2)
James lives in Deerfield. He is the divorced father of three children, two of whom are in the NH schools and one who recently graduated from UNH with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He holds a BA in English from SNHU, and works for Philips Medical Systems as a Learning Products Developer.
He has worked hard for the taxpayers of Deerfield for 13 years on the Municipal Budget Committee, serving as both Chairman and Vice-Chairman. In that time he has consistently fought to lower taxes and impose common-sense spending cuts, while preserving the essential services upon which we depend.
James is a life-long hunter, a competitive archer, and a current Board Member for the Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA). He is committed to preserving and strengthening our 2nd Amendment Rights in New Hampshire, preserving the great American tradition of hunting, and ensuring that the game animals and their environment remain healthy so that every future generation can enjoy hunting New Hampshire.
With three children in the school systems in New Hampshire, James has deep concerns about the quality of education, and objects strongly to programs such as Common Core and other federally intrusive mandates. Decisions made locally are simply decisions that are better made! A quality education must include local control and parental choice.
James will also fight to keep New Hampshire a free and sovereign state by fighting intrusions and mandates from the federal government, especially when unfunded. The federal government is, by design, limited in its power. Therefore, states must never resign their sovereignty. States Rights are paramount to retaining liberty. James will discourage accepting any federal funding that comes with strings attached, and will not give in to threats from federal entities that require us to give up liberty to receive funds.
James is a proud member of the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR), working to show veterans and their families the unwavering respect they have earned. James believes the families of fallen heroes who have sacrificed so much for America should be able to attend funeral services and mourn without the disruption of unpatriotic protestors.
2016 Updates
James is the founder of the NH Veteran Sportsman Foundation, providing free hunting and fishing licenses to NH veterans who demonstrate a need.
